1、Have you ever tried foreign food?
Yes, certainly. There are various foreign foods in China. I have tried rice steamed with pineapple from Thailand, sushi and ramen from Japan, sandwich, Hamburg and chips from the UK and America. All of them are delicious.
2、Do you like to try new food?
Yes, every kind of food brings me a unique experience. It is not just on the level of taste, but also on the level of culture. It is always interesting to learn stories behind a particular kind of food, like why they use this ingredient and choose this cooking method.
3、What kinds of new food have you tried recently?
Korean-style roasted meat. The sauce they use is very unique. It has a mixed taste of sweetness and acid, very delicious. I want to have it again.
4、What kinds of foreign food are popular in your country?
Many kinds of foreign food are popular in China. But the first one comes to my mind is Sushi from Japan. Probably because of its placid taste and fresh ingredients, it was regarded as a kind of high-class food in my country.
5、Do you like any food from the countries near China?
I am quite into steamed rice with pineapple from Thailand. The fragrance of pineapple is perfectly mixed with the smell of rice, which makes it a bit sweet but not too much.

I'd like to tell you about my first experience of Japanese cuisine. This story took place about five or six years ago now, when I was dating my ex-girlfriend. One evening, she invited me to eat out with her and a few of her female friends at this Japanese restaurant. At first, I was a bit reluctant to go, partly because I hadn't met any of her friends at that time and I'm not that great around new people, but mainly because I'm a fussy eater.
There's nothing worse than eating out, dying of hunger because you'd skipped lunch so you wouldn't spoil your appetite, and then not liking the food you order or anything on the menu. My then-girlfriend persuaded me to go, but I told her I probably wouldn't like anything. The restaurant was nice. It had a Japanese theme but I think everyone working there was Chinese. We went in, sat down and thought about what to have.
When I was looking at the menu, nothing took my fancy so I let the girls choose my meal, which was rice and some seafood like prawns and salmon; I think it was all or partly raw. The girls started tucking into their food but I just ended up playing with mine. I was starving, I could have eaten a horse, but I just picked at mine, mainly eating the rice, which had no flavour to it, and little bites of fish with my glass of water to wash it down. If I'd had my way, we would have gone somewhere else, to a place where I could have stuffed my face. I haven't had Japanese food since and I don't have any intention of trying it again.
There is a foreign food that I would really like to try, but I wonder if my choice will surprise you? I will tell you what it is, how I learned about it, where it is mostly eaten and explain why I want to taste it so badly.
The food is…. Pizza! Now, of course, this is a food that you can buy all over the world, and I really enjoy the pizza that I can buy in my home country which is England in the UK. However, I recently learned from a friend that the style of pizza available here is nothing like the authentic Italian pizza you can get if you visit its country of origin, and since then, it’s one of the things on my bucket list. That is, something I’d like to do before I die is to travel to Italy, find a local pizzeria and get a really authentic pizza.
So how did I learn what I’ve been missing? I shop regularly at a local family owned delicatessen. The proprietor is Italian, and he is a great foody – that is he takes food very seriously, sourcing only the best ingredients. He and his wife are both vegetarian like me, so they often suggest food or recipes. The other day we were talking and he was bemoaning the lack of ‘proper’ pizzas in this country. He told me that whilst of course, Italian food is very regional including its pizzas, they are nevertheless distinctive. All pizzas MUST be cooked in a wood-fired oven for a start, the dough should be tossed by hand. The pizza should only be made with the very freshest and finest ingredients, and is best eaten outdoors too, of course, against the backdrop of the Italian countryside!
Pizza is eaten everywhere in Italy, though of course approximations of pizza can be bought the world over. Even so, my deli friend has persuaded me I’ve been missing out, and I’d like to find out for myself how different it might taste if I go for an authentic recipe, venue and location. I’ve never had a real pizza, and I’ve never been to Italy either, I think it would be a winning combination – not to mention that it would also be a great excuse to go to a beautiful country that I have yet to visit. What do you think, would you like to come too?
1. Is food important to you?
Yes, I have a healthy appetite. You know, different types of food can provide enough fibre, vitamins and minerals, and these are essential for our body to work properly and enable us to have the energy to work or study.
  2. What foods do you usually eat?
Well, I love to eat fast food, which is timesaving and economical, as I don’t need to wait in a queue and it can cut my budget on food. However, I’ve heard that eating junk food on a daily basis will certainly cause obesity and other chronic disease, so now I’d like to cut down the times on having McDonald’s or stuff like that.
  3. What kind of food do you particularly like?
Well, I’m crazy about dessert. I normally go to the coffeehouse to have high teas. Having a cup of refreshing drink and some tea dessert like muffin and croissant is helpful to keep me in good mood in the afternoon. Though these foods contain high calories, I’ve no attempt to resist these dainty foods.
  4. Is there any food you don’t like?
Yes, I don’t eat meat. I’m a vegetarian and believed that eating meat is brutal to animals and is harmful to our health. Clearly, the overconsumption of red meat may cause high blood glucose levels and lead to diabetes.
  5. Do you think it’s good to take children to restaurants?
Well, it’s not appropriate to take children to eat outside on a regular basis, because they may consequently get adapted to it and reluctant to eat home-cooked meals, which is normally prepared under sanitary conditions. Therefore, parents should avoid children’s bad eating habit.
