打擊樂是樂器分類名稱之一。 凡用打、擊方式發(fā)聲的樂器（打弦樂器除 外）統(tǒng)稱為打擊樂（器）。在西洋管弦樂隊中，打擊樂器被分 為兩大類：一類為有音高樂器另一類為無音高樂器。
伊斯曼音樂學院打擊樂工作室的歷史可以追溯到1920年，Michael Burritt是該校歷史上第三位教授。
打擊樂系為學生提供管弦樂、獨奏、室內樂、世界音樂和爵士樂的學習，學生與世界上最知名的音樂家一起接受最嚴格的訓練，目前打擊樂系有16名本科生和6名研究生，并且研究生也可以參與助教，他們的任務包括指導和指揮打擊樂團，教授打擊方法課程，在研究生室內樂團表演和教授非專業(yè)課程。

申請截止日期以及語言要求
1、申請截止日期：12月1日，申請費125美金
2、語言要求：
本科：托福83，各單項不低于18
碩士：托福88，各單項不低于18
博士：托福100，各單項不低于22，其中寫作不低于28
現場面試：
should include snare drum, timpani, and keyboard percussion. Suggested solo repertoire:
1、Snare Drum: Etudes from Delecluse, Macarez, Peters, Tompkins
2、Timpani: 3 contrasting orchestral excerpts and a solo or etude of your choice from Delecluse, Carter, Hochrainer
3、Keyboard Percussion: A movement of Bach from either the Sonatas and Partitas for Solo Violin or the Six Suites for Solo Cello
4、Burritt Azure, Caritas or Scirroco; Druckman Reflections on the Nature of Water; Klatzow Dances of Earth and Fire; Maslanka Variations on Lost Love; SueyoshiMirage; Schwantner Velocities; Stevens Rhythmic Caprice; Sammut Cameleon; Stout Rumble Strips or Sendimental Structures; Thomas Merlin; Vi?ao Khan Variations or Burritt Variations
5、Three excerpts from the standard repertoire on each of the following: snare drum, xylophone, glockenspiel, and timpani required
6、Sight-reading required
