1. How do you usually spend your weekends? [Why?]

1 I usually spend my weekends working, but if I get some time off I like to hang out with my friends and do something fun with them like going to the movies, the park or just the park. Sometimes, though, I enjoy being by myself and reading a book – it depends on my mood.

2 I usually spend my weekends shopping. I like to go to various stores and buy whatever catches my eye, such as nice clothes or electronic products.

2. Which is your favourite part of the weekend? [Why?]

1 My favourite part of the weekend is probably Sunday morning, since no- one is doing anything and everything seems a lot more peaceful than usual. You can pretty much do anything you want and not feel like you’ re wasting time.

2 My favourite part of the weekend is Saturday night because I get to meet up with my friends, go to a bar or KTV and relax with them.

3. Do you think your weekends are long enough? [Why/ Why not?]

1 I think two days is kind of the bare minimum for weekends now, but I’ ve read that wasn’ t always like this – in the past, there was no real concept of a “weekend” – people would get time off on Sundays to go to church and a half day on Saturdays, but there was no weekend like we have nowadays. People literally fought and died to have two days away from work, which should tell you something about how much people value their free time and dislike their jobs.

2 I think my weekends are long enough –I have enough time to do everything I want to do (such as shopping and seeing my friends) and if I had any more free time I wouldn’ t know what to do with it.

4. How important do you think it is to have free time at the weekends? [Why?]

1 It depends on the person – some people I know work right through their weekends and others can’ t function without it. For myself, I’ d probably side with the latter – if I didn’ t have weekends I imagine I’ d end up going slightly crazy.

2 It’ s important to have free time at the weekends, but I think work and study is much more important than relaxing, so people who complain about not having enough free time are probably just lazy.
