As an IELTS writing teacher, your responsibilities are multi-faceted. You are expected to assist your learners in grasping and interpreting the requirements embodied in the writing prompts. You help your students understand how to present their arguments coherently, and how to organize and develop these arguments. Even more importantly, you provide targeted feedback on the individual writing strengths and weaknesses of each student.
You must have a good understanding of the assessment criteria and the different task types that are commonly encountered in IELTS writing exams. You teach students the necessary grammar, vocabulary, spelling and punctuation skills that they will require in order to be successful. You develop curriculum plans that are effective and meaningful, use a range of assessment tools to monitor progress, and assign suitable exercises and test papers to help students improve.
